Al culminar el nivel, el participante será capaz de comprender una amplia variedad de textos extensos y con cierto nivel de exigencia, así como reconocer en ellos sentidos implícitos. Sabrá expresarse de forma fluida y espontánea sin muestras muy evidentes de esfuerzo para encontrar la expresión adecuada. Podrá hacer un uso flexible y efectivo del idioma para fines sociales, académicos y profesionales. Podrá producir textos claros, bien estructurados y detallados sobre temas de cierta complejidad, mostrando un uso correcto de los mecanismos de organización, articulación y cohesión del texto.

Upon completion of the level, you will be able to understand a wide variety of long and demanding texts and recognize implicit meanings. You will know how to express yourself fluently and spontaneously without making an obvious effort to find the right expression. You will be comfortable using language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. You will be capable of producing clear, well-structured and detailed texts on topics of a certain complexity, showing a correct use of the mechanisms of organization, articulation and cohesion of the text.

We will introduce the following the topics:

  • Use and formation of the past perfect continuous and correct use of narrative tenses.

1. Advanced I Week 1

A review of verbal tenses. Indirect and direct questions. Use and formation of the past perfect continuous and correct use of narrative tenses. TOEFL Writing: Introduction to the Writing Section

2. Advanced I Week 2

Feb 1

Difference between the present perfect and the present perfect continuous. Language to stay on topic. Used to and would to describe past habits. TOEFL Writing: Challenge Questions and Support Questions

3. Advanced I Week 3

Feb 1

Obligation and permission using modals, let, make, and be allowed to. Expressing future probability. Form and use of the future perfect and the future continuous. TOEFL Writing: Problem & Solution Questions.

4. Advanced I Week 4

Feb 1

Expand use of verbs patterns such as verbs followed by to + infinitive. Passive voice in a larger number of tenses. Introduce too, enough and not enough to talk about problems, and introduce so and such for emphasis.

Express regrets and wishes about the past, present and future. Reflexive Pronouns. Phrasal Verbs. TOEFL Writing: Pros & Cons Questions

8. Advanced I Week 8

Separable transitive phrasal verbs. Inseparable and permanently separated transitive phrasal verbs. Verbs followed by a gerund or infinitive with change in meaning.
