Al culminar este nivel, el participante entenderá con facilidad cualquier cosa que escuche o lea en Inglés. Será capaz de resumir y sintetizar información de diversas fuentes, tanto habladas como escritas, reconstruirá argumentos y los podrá presentar de forma coherente. El participante podrá expresarse espontáneamente con fluidez y precisión, y diferenciar pequeños detalles de significado incluso en las situaciones más complejas.

Upon completion of this level, you will understand with ease anything you hear or read in English. You will be capable of summarizing and synthesizing information from a variety of spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and presenting them coherently. You will be in a position to express yourself spontaneously with fluency and accuracy, and to differentiate small details of meaning even in the most complex situations.

We will introduce the following topics:

  • Adverbs and adverbial phrases.
  • A review of perfect tenses.
  • A review of comparative forms.
  • A review of future forms.
  • Different ways to give advice.
  • Inversions and restrictive adverbials.
  • The past tenses of future forms and a review of narrative tenses.
  • Noun phrases, including compound nouns, clauses and possessives.
  • Passive constructions with get and have.
  • A review of relative clauses.
  • Quantifiers and prepositions in relative clauses.
  • Intransitive phrasal verbs.
  • A review of the uses of simple and continuous verbs, and state verbs.
  • Participle clauses.
  • Language used for speculation and deduction.
  • Cleft sentences.
  • Various uses of gerunds and infinitives.
  • A review of conditional forms.
  • Prepositional verbs.
  • Reflexive and reciprocal pronouns.
  • Ellipsis and substitution.
  • Phrasal prepositional verbs.
  • Structures to talk about regrets, and to provide suggestions and criticism.
  • Passive reporting verbs.
  • TOEFL Speaking: Introduction to the Speaking Section
  • TOEFL Speaking: Personal Experience Questions and Paired Choice Questions

1. Advanced II Week 1

Feb 1

Adverbs and adverbial phrases. A review of perfect tenses. A review of comparative forms. TOEFL Speaking: Introduction to the Speaking Section

2. Advanced II Week 2

Feb 1

A review of future forms. Different ways to give advice. Inversions and restrictive adverbials. TOEFL Speaking: Personal Experience Questions and Paired Choice Questions

3. Advanced II Week 3

Feb 1

The past tenses of future forms and a review of narrative tenses. Noun phrases, including compound nouns, clauses and possessives. Passive constructions with get and have. TOEFL Speaking: Campus Matters Questions.

4. Advanced II Week 4
